Norwegian Domination (part 1)
- Before the start of the Biathlon World Cup, the forecasts were different. In the women's part, it was clear that Tura Berger from Norway would be one of the favorites, in the men's part, Norwegian Emil Svendsen was also considered one of the main contenders for medals. But both Russian and French athletes were given many chances to win. However, the World Cup was held with overwhelming Norwegian dominance, and the Russians again performed poorly.
Russian failures
It's like being a favorite, but not justifying your status. In all relay races, both men's and women's, Russians were required to take at least one of the prizes. But in each of these races, there was one incomprehensible approach to the firing line by one athlete from the relay four. Moreover, it was always the second shooting in the third stage, before which the Russians were in the top three ahead of their pursuers. But there were mistakes and penalties, after which we had to fight for a place in the top six.
In individual races, only three people from the men's and women's national teams were competitive — Olga Zaitseva, Anton Shipulin and Dmitry Malyshko. Olga, in many ways, lacked luck. She was fourth in the sprint, losing to Ukrainian Vita Semerenko by less than two seconds. In the pursuit race, Zaitseva was supposed to win a medal, going to the finish line after the fourth shooting in the fight for silver. However, Norwegian Flatland, trying to overtake our athlete, stumbled and fell. Unfortunately, Olga could not avoid a collision, and she also fell, wasting time. As a result, she took fourth place again and lagged behind another Ukrainian Pidhrushna by only 1.5 seconds. In the individual race, a sharp gust of wind on the first shooting dashed all Zaitseva's hopes for medals — 2 misses. As a result, she became the sixth here. And the mass start was the logical conclusion of the championship for Olga Zaitseva — 5th place. Just imagine, Olga has never dropped below 6th place in the entire championship, but she has not won a single medal! Other representatives of the women's team could not boast of such stability. Although we can mention Glazyrina, who managed to take 5th and 7th places, this is already not bad for her.
Men did predictably better than women. Although, everything was not so great here either, Anton Shipulin became the only medal winner of our national team at this championship. Anton failed only in the individual race, making 4 mistakes and taking 33rd place. In all other starts, he directly competed for medals. In the sprint, due to 1 miss, it turned out to take only 7th place, but the gap from the leaders was not very large, thanks to which Anton became the third in the pursuit race. Well, in the mass start, he showed that he had gained excellent form, beating Svendsen himself at the finish and losing only to another Norwegian, Tarey Boe. Dmitry Malyshko did not run in the individual race, but performed very consistently in all other starts, but without brilliance. Fifth place in the sprint, 4th in the pursuit, and the loss of the prize position was at the very finish line, as well as 15th place in the mass start. But in the last race, the result density was very high. Of course, everyone expected more from Dima, but do not forget that for him this is only the second World Cup at the adult level. He will gain experience and will win! La procédure de création de compte est conçue pour être expéditive, mais elle requiert une vigilance particulière au moment de renseigner vos coordonnées.
